Migration tool fails - http 500 internal server error

Hello.

When I´m running the migration tool as part of the process to upgrade from 2.5 MP31 to 3.0 MP1the process fails when doing the invoice section (see attached image) showing an http 500 error: internal server error, the migration log doesn´t even show the log related to this issue so I have no clue where to look for the cause of this,

any help will be greatly welcome

Best Regards

Apparently it has to do with some sort of java out of memory but I´m not sure, I´m attaching the openbravo.log file to see if that helps.

Re: Migration tool fails - http 500 internal server error

Hi Carlos,

Yes, looking at the log the error is caused by an OutOfMemory:
22:04:31 [ajp-8009-8] ERROR org.openbravo.base.exception.OBException - Exception thrown Java heap space
java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space

You can try increasing the maximum java heap size (Xmx) to 1536M in CATALINA_OPTS as we recommend in the installation manual.

  Code:
-server -Djava.awt.headless=true -Xms384M -Xmx1536M -XX:MaxPermSize=256M

Regards,
Mikel.

Re: Migration tool fails - http 500 internal server error

Thank you Mikel,

I didn´t mention that I´m using a vmware appliance and that I migrated to 3,0 MP1 directly from 2.5 MP31 so I guess these CATALINA_OPTS values should be modified directly in one of the files of the appliance because I don´t have those as environment variables, if so I´d like to know which file is the one that I should modify.

Thanks for your time.

Re: Migration tool fails - http 500 internal server error

The file that needs to be modified in case of using a vmware appliance like me is:

/usr/share/tomcat/bin/catalina.sh

and yes, as Mikel pointed out the CATALINA_OPTS should be modified, in this case right at the beginning of the file I added:

CATALINA_OPTS="-server -Djava.awt.headless=true -Xms384M -Xmx1536M -XX:MaxPermSize=256M"

In case you are interested you can see the increase in the memory by accesing tomcat manager

http://<your local ip>/manager/html

and then click on "Server status" and then check values under JVM

After doing these I can run the migration tool with no outofmemoryerror issues, I still have validation issues in the migration but that is a different problem.

Thanks.
