RE:Product Sales Analysis

Just realized there is a problem with spacing my report for last 3 columns. I'm resubmitting this report shortly.

RE:Product Sales Analysis

Also looks like buy & sell price column headings need to be reversed.

RE:Product Sales Analysis

The buy price and sell price always reflect the current buying and selling price - even though in the past you might have revised these prices. However, it calculates profits for each product sold as per the receipt generated (date and receipt number).

RE:Product Sales Analysis

I never use Buy Price so they are always left as 0. Uins your report shows all prices under Sell Price as 0 and all prices under Buy Price are current Selling Prices. Sell Price should be greater than Buy Price.

Thanks,

RE:Product Sales Analysis

Hi Again,

The report came as a result of a customer who wanted to be able to see the profits for each item- per reference time period. I'm attaching the screenshots from my tests...

The query below is what is implemented and I structured the report that way. I hope they can suffice to explain the report better.

Code: Select all
---------------------------------------------

SELECT PRODUCTS.CODE, TICKETS.TICKETID, RECEIPTS.DATENEW AS DATE, PRODUCTS.NAME, PRODUCTS.PRICEBUY,PRODUCTS.PRICESELL, SUM(TICKETLINES.UNITS) AS UNITSSOLD, SUM(TICKETLINES.UNITS * TICKETLINES.PRICE) AS TOTAL, (TICKETLINES.UNITS*(products.PRICESELL-products.PRICEBUY)) AS PROFITLOSS
FROM RECEIPTS, TICKETS, TICKETLINES, PRODUCTS
WHERE RECEIPTS.ID = TICKETS.ID AND TICKETS.ID = TICKETLINES.TICKET AND TICKETLINES.PRODUCT = PRODUCTS.ID
GROUP BY PRODUCTS.CODE, PRODUCTS.NAME , TICKETS.TICKETID
ORDER BY RECEIPTS.DATENEW

RE:Product Sales Analysis

Hi iruragachara,

Sorry you are not getting what I mean. I understand the report fine. The problem is you have an error with the Buy Price and Sell Price column headings. They need to be reversed.

If you look at your first PNG file and the two lines for Receipt No. 4. The Buy Prices are $480 and $423 and the Sell Prices are $434 and $350 respectively. This means that they would be selling both items a lot less than what they are paying for them, always at a LOSS. You can also see this in receipt 5 & 6 items

Kind Regards,

Ronny G
